Health Sciences Research Institute of the Germans Trias i Pujol Foundation (IGTP) seeks to create a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional environment in which to carry out translational research to improve human health and quality of life.
The IGTP aims to be a prestigious biomedical research center, a benchmark in Catalonia and the world, that helps improve human health and quality of life through sustainable research of excellence, professional expertise and technology transfer.
The IGTP is a public center under the research umbrella of the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital. Its facilities are located on the Can Ruti Campus in Badalona, with strong ties to the rest of the institutions that do research there, like the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute (IJC), Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC) and the AIDS Research Institute (IrsiCaixa), among others.
Areas of clinical expertise
The institute focuses on eight areas of research, which generate approximately five hundred scientific publications per year in prestigious science journals: Behavioral Sciences and Substance Abuse, Immunology and Inflammation, Cardiovascular and Respiratory Diseases, Infectious Diseases, Endocrinology and Metabolism, Bone and Kidney Diseases, Liver and the Digestive System, Cancer and Neuroscience.
Recognition and distinctions
The IGTP is a CERCA center (Research Centers of Catalonia) and has been accredited as a center of excellence by the Institute of Health Salud Carlos III and CIBER (Biomedical Research Networking Centers).
