Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) is a research center focused on cellular medicine, where high-level basic research centers on addressing relevant clinical issues and fostering economic development.

The IDIBELL brings together the biomedical research of the   Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB), Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), University of Barcelona Bellvitge campus (UB) and Viladecans Hospital (HV). It was one of the first five research centers in Spain to receive accreditation as a healthcare research institute from the   Institute of Health Carlos III (ISCIII) in 2009. It has facilities located at Duran i Reynals Hospital, Bellvitge University Hospital and at the University of Barcelona campus in Bellvitge. All of these are part of what is known as the Biopol'H space.

The center promotes and facilitates translational research of excellence, integrating innovation and transfer into biomedicine, in order to improve public health standards. Its aim is to be a global benchmark in biomedical research. The institute makes sure that its results always look towards innovation and transfer, thus having a positive impact on healthcare.
